Production Illustrator

A production illustrator works very closely with the art director or production designer. The illustrator takes the concepts and blueprints from the set designers and realizes them in full-color renderings. This work can be used in several ways.

If the production is already in full swing, then the production illustrator's work is used as a guide for the painters and construction crew so they can see the finished product. If the production is still trying to get off the ground, a producer will bring in a production illustrator to create elaborate scenes from the proposed film in the hopes of attracting investors. Either way, the illustrator creates gorgeous, presentation-quality pieces of artwork in full color.
