Supervising Sound Editor

All sound in the film, with the exception of the music, is handled by the supervising sound editor, who oversees everything from ADR to dialogue editing to Foley. The supervising sound editor watches the film and writes cue sheets for the Foley person based on what seems to be needed to add to the dynamics of the film.

At the beginning, the supervising sound editor talks with the director about the sound track. Some directors are in love with sound and want it to be everything it can be and more; others have an indifference and just want it to be there. Either way, the sound editor takes the director's ideas and follows them through all aspects of the sound production, making sure the sound is the perfect complement to what the director has recorded visually.
